The Santa Maria
The Santa Maria was the least favorite of Columbus' famous fleet of three. A carrack, she was a much larger cargo ship than La Niña and La Pinta, both smaller caravel style trading vessels.
Likewise, Little Ship's Santa Maria is larger and more unwieldy. But what she lacks in grace she makes up for in utility. Designed to be a go-to vessel for bringing a friend along, the Santa Maria is short for a tandem, beamy, and utilizes a semi-wash deck and sealed bulk heads. Think of her as an all-weather canoe that you can actually do an effective self rescue with. Think of her as a shuttle vehicle for getting your photographer friend who knows nothing about sea-kayaking out through the surf break onto that unfriendly-looking offshore rock, so he/she can take pictures of your other friends crashing into said rock. Think of her as a truly relaxing mountain lake canoe...one where you won't worry about getting back to camp when the afternoon winds kick up some chop.
