La Pinta
La Pinta means "spotted one" or is possibly a reference to a pint (as in, of ale). La Pinta was similar to La Nina, but slightly bigger. She also made it to the New World with Christopher Colombus.
Little Ship's La Pinta is a first-class adventure racing canoe, specifically designed to be comfortable on long journeys and also effective under sail. Partly inspired by the legendary Kruger's Cruiser, La Pinta is amenable to use of canoe or kayak paddle. La Pinta is essentially a sit-on-top/sit-inside hybrid. The design goal was to lessen dependence on restrictive and uncomfortable sprayskirts and equally uncomfortable drysuits by making capsize recovery as safe as possible. Because as every coastal endurance paddler in the Pacific Northwest knows, "dressing for immersion" up here in the summertime is like dressing for heat stroke. Unlike the legendary Cruiser, La Pinta has a very small area to flood and is equipped with one-way scuppers so you'll never be paddling a bathtub full of water. La Pinta also comes in a kneeling configuration for dynamic canoe-style paddling.
